Le Fécamp mangoo

The ferry crossing from Newhaven to Dieppe was perfect, Mill Pond smooth and a great seat by the window. It was so smooth in fact that Edward’s was gently rocked to sleep and it was at this point that the serenity of the crossing was disturbed for all travellers by the slaughtered pig snoring. Clearly he was having sweet dreams of being on a Mediterranean cruise.

The digs were only a short drive of around 70km from the ferry port and yesterday it was suggested that Edward’s may have a slightly chequered past where accommodation booking is concerned. Today was set to affirm that suggestion.

First, there was the open garage which we assumed must be for us. Parking our bikes up we were as pleased as punch with the secure bike accommodation. Dry, secure, well lit and ‘someone else’s’ are all expressions that could be used to describe the lockup.

Nice garage, shame it wasn’t ours

Then there are the rooms. A double (Edward’s) and two singles (William’s). Edward’s bed was already made up with and very comfy with plenty of wardrobe storage. Williams however had to make his own bed having the choice of relatively clean or ‘mangoo’ bed to choose. He settled on relatively clean. Between them they managed to figure out how to make the bed ( no mean feat) and then set off to explore the town of Fécamp.

“Nope! No way!” We note that the stain is near the pillow and should high-five the previous occupant

That’s quite enough culture we want 🍺

The weather must be very good around here they keep their books outside

À library for cats!

Our eatery for the night. Fish and chips, which apparently was originally a French dish. British fish and chips is better and way cheaper

A very expensive beer that looked like it was used to clean the pipes
